The Sacrament of Marriage is an essential part of God’s plan, as the history of salvation “begins with the creation of man and woman in the image and likeness of God and concludes with a vision of "the wedding feast of the Lamb” (CCC 1602).

Through marriage...

  • A perpetual, exclusive, and irrevocable bond arises between the spouses.

  • Spouses are strengthened and consecrated for the duties and the dignity of their state.

  • Spouses enter a covenant with one another that is integrated into God's covenant with humanity.

  • Spouses receive the grace intended to perfect the couple's love and strengthen their indissoluble unity.

  • Spouses receive the grace to help one another attain holiness in their married life and in welcoming and educating children.

MATRIMONY AT NATIVITY

We are so excited you are seeking the sacrament of Matrimony and would love to guide and support you through the process. The components of marriage preparation offered at Nativity include the FOCCUS test, marriage prep classes, and Natural Family Planning. You can choose to complete any or all of these components with us here at Nativity.

If you are looking to participate in these classes, seeking a wedding here at Nativity, or are just not sure where to get started, see below for more information and to sign up.

WHAT TO EXPECT:

Classes

Couples seeking the sacrament of Matrimony are asked to attend a series of six marriage preparation classes, which will be conducted by one of our priests.  These classes are offered once in the spring and once in the fall. For our most recent schedule, scroll down.

FOCCUS Test

Couples going through marriage preparation are given the FOCCUS “pre-marriage inventory,” for which each partner answers questions individually before coming together to discuss the thoughts, feelings, differences, and priorities brought to light. The test will be facilitated by Bridget Fross, Parish Registrar. The test is designed to help engaged couples appreciate their unique relationship, enhance communication, and address areas important to their lifelong marriage.

Natural Family Planning (NFP)

NFP classes help couples learn a beautiful way to live out the Church’s teaching on sexuality that is safe, healthy, holy, and effective! One class series consists of three classes spaced one month apart. Contact Kristen at coloradohamills@gmail.com if you are interested in NFP at Nativity.

Weddings at Nativity

Nativity offers the opportunity for wedding ceremonies to take place in our gathering space. For more information on how to schedule a wedding at Nativity, contact, Bridget Fross, Parish Registrar at b.fross@nool.us or 303-469-5171, ext. 110.

Convalidations

If you are married outside of the Church (e.g. civilly), we invite you to enter into full communion with the Catholic Church by celebrating a convalidation. To do so, please contact Bridget Fross, who will walk you through the preparation process.
