My name is Merrilyn and I am the Parish Registrar and Funeral Coordinator at Nativity.
I was a social worker for Head Start, Inc. in my home state of Massachusetts for 16 years. I also worked for a federally funded program for the homeless. I attended the University of Massachusetts and Bridgewater State College, where I studied Social Work and Human Development. My studies also include advanced courses in biblical and catechetical studies through the Denver Catholic Biblical School. I am an advocate through the Archdiocese of Denver Tribunal and assists those seeking annulments.
I have been a very active volunteer for the church and community for decades. At Nativity, I am an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion, RCIC volunteer, and lector. I received the distinguished Marian Medal Award for my service and dedication to my local parish in the diocese of Fall River. Working with grieving families and helping to console them has been a great gift in my vocation to serving God.
I have two grown children and two grandchildren, who I enjoy visiting in Mississippi. One of my favorite hobbies is maintaining the book store here at Nativity, and I love to read and be with people. I am an avid New England Patriot's fan, and watching football is my absolute favorite pastime. My favorite Bible verse is, "I Am the Way and the Truth and the Life” (John 14:6).
